General Purpose Rating

On successful completion of this Pre - Sea training, the candidates will be able to join as a RATING in Indian & Foreign shipping companies as a Deck Crew or Engine Crew. The GP Rating candidate will be able to work in all seamanship activities on-board at deck side and other work at Engine side. With further Sea service, they will be promoted as DECK SERANG, BOSUN, Able-Bodied Seamen / Engine Fitter etc.
They can also be promoted to officer Level with certain service and qualification requirements. After completing this Pre-Sea Training, exams will be conducted by Board of examination for sea farers (BES) & successful candidates are eligible to obtain Continuous Discharge Certificate (INDIAN CDC) from the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India. There are wide job opportunities for our Indian Seamen all over the world.
GROWTH TO BECOME A CAPTAIN
PHASE 1 : After 6 Months G.P. Rating Course Join as either Deck Crew or Engine Crew
(Salary 300 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 20,000 Per Month)
PHASE 2 : Promoted as AB Seaman Bosum in Deck Side or Promoted in Engine Side
(Salary 800 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 50,000 Per Month)
PHASE 3 : 36 Months Sea Experience & with certain Qualifications Eligible to appear 2nd Mate Exams
(Salary 1,000 - 1500 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 70,000 to 1 lakh Per Month)
PHASE 4 : Eligible to get promotion to 2nd Officer and with further Sea Experience and Exam, can be promoted to Captian Level.
(Salary 6,000 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 4.5 Lakhs Per Month)
PHASE 5 : Become a Captain of Ship
(Salary 10,000 USD Per Month / In Indian Currency Rs 7.5 Lakhs Per Month)
ADMISSION FOR GENERAL PURPOSE RATING ( GP ) - 6 MONTHS COURSE
ELIGIBILITY :
Xth Std. Pass from Govt. recognised board with subjects English, Mathematics & Science with 40% aggregate.
English 40% in Xth / XIIth (or) XIIth Std. (any stream) Govt. recognised board with 40% aggregate. English 40% in
Xth / XIIth but with subjects English, Mathematics & Science at Xth Std. (or) Pass in 2 year ITI course approved by DVET with minimum 40 % aggregate marks in final year of ITI & 40 % aggregate in English 40% in Xth / XIIth
AGE LIMIT :
Min. 17 years 6 months - 25 yrs (maximum)
VISION :
No Color Blindness, 6/6 Vision in each eye. No Eye Glasses permitted
